Robert A. MacDonald holds the Steven S. Steeves Chair in Business, serves as Business Faculty Coordinator, and is Professor of Business Administration at Crandall University. He holds both a BA and BSc from Dalhousie University, and an MBA from Saint Mary’s University, and joined Crandall in 2001.

Robert’s research is focused on business case study development, faith integration in business, strategic management, human resource management, and the management of not-for-profit organizations. His past projects, publications, and presentations stem from research into municipal policy, not-for-profit governance and control, charitable giving among Canadians, and challenges faced by small business enterprises.Robert is currently working on projects in the area of not-for-profit strategic management and faith integration in business school education.

Robert is a member of the North American Case Research Association (NACRA) and the Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA), and serves on the editorial board of the Case Research Journal. He has been recognized often for his contributions to both Crandall University and his broader academic community, and has received the NACRA Special Award for Innovation in Case Writing (October 2021), the Stephen & Ella Steeves Excellence in Service Award (February 2019), the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada Conference Award for Excellence in Reviewing (May 2017), the NACRA Award for Outstanding Academic Reviewing (October 2016), and the Stephen & Ella Steeves Excellence in Teaching Award (February 2010). Prior to his arrival at Crandall, Robert taught in the Department of Management at Saint Mary’s University.
