Bachelor of Education - BEd Online

Teachers, earn your Education degree online with Crandall University

Crandall’s highly-regarded Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Technical Education programs are offered through online delivery for individuals who are currently teaching in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island and who wish to pursue their professional teaching credentials while continuing to work.

Applicants with an undergraduate degree in a teachable subject (or a Red Seal in an approved trade) and at least one year of teaching experience may qualify to enrol in the Elementary, Secondary or Technical Education pathways.

Courses for the online Bachelor of Education are offered in a hybrid format that combines synchronous online classes with asynchronous learning activities, providing flexibility for working educators while maintaining meaningful engagement with faculty and peers.

Program Highlights

Students are challenged throughout their program to complete all the requirements for certification. Students have access to course material throughout the week and synchronous instruction with Crandall University faculty weekly. This delivery model is designed to allow balance with current teaching responsibilities and classwork while maintaining the high standard of excellence that Crandall’s Education programs are known for.

  • One course at a time (over five weeks)
  • 3 hours per week, flexible asynchronous instruction
  • 3 hours per week, designated online discussions with Crandall Faculty (one evening per week)
  • Additional time spent each week completing assignments and preparing for presentations
  • The program duration is 20-22 months depending on when you start the program (includes 15-18 week internship)
  • Admission requirements are the same as our traditional BEd or BTEd except applicants must be currently teaching in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island.
  • Students also take two (2) 3-credit hour Religious Studies courses

FAQ

What do I need to take part in online classes?

Online classes are held on Microsoft Teams, and students must be fully present and engaged during synchronous (online) class time; for this, students need a computer with working camera/microphone/speakers and should be familiar with the Teams application.

Can I take some online courses and some courses on campus?

Unfortunately, students enrolled in the online program are only able to take online courses. The only exception to this is for students choosing the Elementary pathway, who may be required to attend in-person courses at the Moncton campus during the summer.

I’m enrolled in Crandall’s in-person Bachelor of Education program or Saturday program. Can I take online courses, too?

Unfortunately, online courses are available only to students enrolled in the online program.

Can I complete a Bachelor of Technical Education online?

Yes! Teachers with Red Seal certification may complete a BTEd through Crandall’s online delivery option.

How does my internship work? I am currently in a classroom.

You will continue with your day-to-day responsibilities. During the internship component, a Crandall faculty member will visit your classroom to observe and provide feedback.
