Giving Tuesday 2019
December 3, 2019
This year for Giving Tuesday, Crandall is putting the focus on mental health. Student life is full of excitement: friendships, adventures, education, and more all play a hugely transformative role in this unique period of life. That doesn’t tell the whole story, however; part of the uniqueness of student life is the challenge that each individual faces over their time at school: work loads, deadlines, finances, social pressures, expectations…not to mention being away from home – whether home is another city or another country. All of these (and more) can contribute to internal struggles that are difficult to face alone.
Student Wellness
At Crandall University, we take a proactive approach to wellness for our students, and that includes their mental health. We work hard to ensure that all students have access to support when they need it the most, and that they are not burdened by the costs often associated with accessing those supports.
During daytime hours, students have access to key staff members, faculty advisors, and other on-campus helps, but the reality for many people is the time they need help the most is outside of regular office hours.
At Crandall University, all students can access free counselling and support through keep.meSAFE – reachable from anywhere in the world by phone or through the downloadable My SSP app. Immediate support or counselling is available 24/7 by phone or chat with a registered clinical counsellor.
Students are also not restricted by language with keep.meSAFE – they can access counsellors who speak their language and understand their culture, which is incredibly beneficial for international students who are studying far from home in a language and culture that might be vastly different than their own.
When a student requires an additional level of support, or in more complex situations, Crandall also provides crisis care through local counselling services.
Support Mental Health Services
At Crandall University, we aim to provide all the support that students need to be successful in their educational endeavors. This means investing in the total wellness of our students. You can help a student by joining us in investing in mental health support that is available to students whenever and wherever they need it.
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to help us raise $5,000 to support Mental Health services at Crandall University.
