The Distinguished Alumni Award celebrates the contributions Crandall alumni make to their communities and professions. It recognizes truly outstanding accomplishments of Crandall’s alumni in their personal and professional lives. Each year’s recipient(s) are selected from nominations received from the alumni community.
For 2022, Crandall University is proud to be presenting Distinguished Alumni Awards to Dr. Dennis Bustin (’86) and Dr. Daniel Goodwin (’82).
Recipients
Dr. Dennis Bustin (’86)
Dennis Bustin was born and raised in Moncton, NB. He pursued post-secondary studies at Atlantic Baptist College (BA with distinction), Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary (MDiv magna cum laude), Harvard University (ThM), and Queen’s University (MA, PhD). An ordained Baptist Minister, Dennis has served faithfully in paid and volunteer roles in a number of churches in the greater Moncton area. He joined the Crandall University faculty in 1990 as an adjunct faculty member, then returned in 1997 in a full time role in the history department, retiring in 2020 as Associate Professor. During his time at Crandall he was active in various committees, including Spiritual Life and took an active role in chapel leadership. He received the Stephen and Ella Steeves excellence award in Service in 2010.
Dr. Daniel Goodwin (’82)
Daniel Goodwin was born and raised in Yarmouth, NS. He pursued post-secondary studies at Atlantic Baptist College (Associate of Arts), Acadia University (BA, MA, MDiv), and Queen’s University (PhD). Dan was ordained at Lancaster Baptist in Saint John, NB in 1990 and was later ordained as a Priest in the Anglican Diocese of Fredericton in 2014. He joined the history department at Atlantic Baptist College in 1994 and taught for over 20 years, rising to the rank of Professor. He received the Stephen and Ella Steeves excellence awards on three occasions (Service ’08, Teaching ’09, Research ’14).
