Welcome Week at Crandall University provides an exciting and welcoming beginning to the fall semester, bringing new and returning students together for a week filled with connection, community, celebration, and opportunities to get settled into campus life. We’re excited to look back on this year’s Welcome Week and share some of the highlights, from Graduate Orientation and Move-In Day to Undergraduate Orientation, CSA activities, the Chapel Kickoff, and the highly anticipated Soccer Home Opener.
Graduate Orientation
Crandall University welcomed its international graduate students with a multi-day Fall Orientation, combining important information sessions with opportunities to meet fellow students, explore campus, and become familiar with the many resources available throughout the university.
Move-In Day
Welcome Week got underway with Move-In Day, as undergraduate students arrived on campus and settled into their new homes. The day brought plenty of excitement as students moved into residence, met neighbours and began preparing for the semester ahead.
Undergraduate Orientation
Undergraduate Orientation continued throughout the week with a variety of activities designed to help new and returning students get connected and ready for the academic year.
Orientation day featured “Connect: Undergrad” sessions, campus tours, BEd/BTEd orientation, meetings with faculty advisors, and a Community Fair. Students also enjoyed a free pizza lunch, returning student orientation, CSA activities, and an international student session.
CSA Events
The Crandall Student Association (CSA) once again helped make Welcome Week an exciting time for students, organizing a variety of events and activities throughout the week.
- Monday wrapped up with a Movie Night, giving students an opportunity to relax and spend time together.
- Tuesday brought more outdoor fun with the Slip’n’Slide, along with bingo and the Community Fair.
- Wednesday featured a series of fun and competitive camp games.
- Thursday saw the return of the popular silent disco, giving students a chance to dance the night away.
- Friday brought the annual soccer baseball tournament, followed by the first Grounded night of worship of the semester.
Chapel Kickoff
The Welcome Week schedule also included the first chapel gathering of the academic year. Students came together for a time of worship, reflection, and community as Crandall began another semester with a focus on faith and fellowship.
Soccer Home Opener
Welcome Week concluded with the Chargers Soccer Home Opener, as Crandall welcomed UNBSJ for an afternoon of varsity soccer. Fans and students came out to Harrison Trimble High School to cheer on the Chargers and show their Crandall spirit.
The women’s team battled hard but fell to UNBSJ, while the men’s team also came up short in their opening home matches. Despite the results, the home opener provided an exciting opportunity for students, families, and supporters to come together and cheer on the Chargers.
Welcome to all our new and returning Crandall students! We’re excited to see all that this new academic year will bring.
