Throughout the year, we feature Crandall alumni by sharing their stories. Spotlight stories keep us connected with our alum. It highlights what they have been doing since leaving Crandall and how their time at Crandall has influenced their lives during and after their studies.
Today’s Alumni Spotlight Story features Karan Kanani, who graduated in 2024 with a Master of Management.
Which country/province are you originally from?
I’m originally from India.
What have you been up to since you left Crandall University?
Since graduating, I have been working as a Software Engineer III at Avaya Canada. Alongside my engineering career, I volunteer as the Treasurer for the Gujarati Samaj of New Brunswick—a role that allows me to give back and stay deeply connected with my local community.
How did Crandall prepare you for your future?
Crandall truly shaped both my personal and professional life. Studying alongside a diverse community of students from around the world broadened my global perspective and strengthened my approach to collaboration.
During my time at Crandall, I had the privilege of serving as the Graduate Student Society (GSS) President. Leading the GSS alongside a dedicated executive team taught me core values of leadership, teamwork, and empathy that I continue to carry with me every day.
One of our proudest collective achievements was establishing the Crandall Graduate Student Society Scholarship in 2024. Created to honor fellow students and friends who served faithfully, this annual award supports Master of Management and Master of Organizational Management students on the Moncton Campus who demonstrate financial need, maintain a strong GPA (3.67+), and actively participate in GSS activities.
My journey at Crandall was made even more meaningful by the exceptional faculty and staff. Throughout my studies and my transition into life in Canada, the faculty provided unwavering guidance and support.
Furthermore, during my presidency with the GSS, the Graduate Student Life team was instrumental in helping us organize impactful campus activities and initiatives.
That culture of mentorship and support is a cornerstone of the Crandall experience, and it played a vital role in preparing me for the future.
