Crandall University celebrated its annual Staff Appreciation Awards on June 10, recognizing the outstanding contributions of employees who exemplify the University’s mission and statement of faith through their service, leadership, and innovation.

Three prestigious awards were presented during the event, each honoring exceptional individuals whose work has had a significant and lasting impact on the Crandall community.

Service Excellence Recognition Award – Lorrie Weir

The Service Excellence Recognition Award highlights the efforts of front-line employees who inspire excellence in client service while navigating challenges with professionalism and compassion. The Service Excellence Award was awarded to Lorrie Weir for her unwavering commitment to serving the Crandall community with professionalism, wisdom, and compassion. As a front-line representative of the university, Lorrie consistently demonstrates exceptional judgment, attention to detail, and a gracious spirit, even in challenging situations. Nominators highlighted her ability to ensure smooth and effective processes while treating every individual with respect and care. Whether assisting colleagues, supporting decision-making, or navigating difficult conversations, Lorrie exemplifies service excellence through her poise, integrity, and Christ-like character, making a profound impact on those she serves each day.

Williston Award – Nathan Weaver

The Williston Award is designed to recognize employees who may work behind the scenes, yet play a crucial role in fostering a nurturing and supportive environment. The Williston Award was presented to Nathan Weaver, whose behind-the-scenes leadership and dedication have made him an invaluable member of the Crandall community. Nathan received overwhelming support from nominators who praised his reliability, professionalism, and servant-hearted approach to maintaining and supporting the university’s facilities. From coordinating maintenance activities across campus to mentoring student workers and supporting colleagues, Nathan consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the campus operates smoothly. His proactive problem-solving, commitment to high-quality service, and willingness to assist wherever needed have earned the trust and appreciation of faculty, staff, and students alike. Through his quiet leadership, strong work ethic, and commitment to serving others, Nathan exemplifies the spirit of the Williston Award and Crandall University’s mission.

Innovative Recognition Award – James Ching

The Innovative Recognition Award celebrates employees whose creativity and forward-thinking have brought about meaningful change within the university. The Innovative Recognition Award was presented to James Ching in recognition of his outstanding contributions to advancing systems, processes, and solutions across the university. Known as an exceptional problem solver within Information Technology, James consistently goes beyond the expectations of his role, combining creativity, technical expertise, and a servant-hearted approach to improve the university community. Colleagues praised his willingness to refine existing systems and implement impactful new ideas that enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Through his innovative thinking and commitment to excellence, James has made a meaningful and lasting impact while faithfully embodying Crandall University’s mission and statement of faith.
