Throughout the year, we feature Crandall alumni by sharing their stories. Spotlight stories keep us connected with our alum. It highlights what they have been doing since leaving Crandall and how their time at Crandall has influenced their lives during and after their studies.
Today’s Alumni Spotlight Story features Rev. Noah Lohnes, who graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Theology
Since Graduation:
Since graduating, I have been pastoring the Liverpool and Brooklyn Baptist churches in Queens County, NS. In serving my churches and the wider community, I’ve been able to partner with churches of various denominations for ecumenical ministry, including launching a Grief support program and Community Café, which provides a free meal and space for community connection. Working closely with the leadership in both my churches, we’ve made updates to our organizational structures, and opened the pathway for new kinds of ministry initiatives to come to fruition. While pastoring, I continued my education, graduating with a Master of Divinity from Acadia Divinity College in May 2025. In October 2025, I was ordained by my churches after successfully defending my statement of faith before the Ordination Examining Council of the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada.
How did Crandall prepare you:
Having a degree in business administration has helped tremendously in the realm of faith-based organizations, allowing me to tackle issues surrounding finance, management structure, promotion, and goal-based planning. The Christian roots of Crandall’s business program cemented within me that all the facets of business and administration related to church organizations are not simply necessary administration, but when done well, bring glory to God. Partnering the practical and God-centered lessons from my business degree with the Crandall-Acadia Bth program’s focus on theological reflection and spiritual development, has made a significant impact in the way I lead and participate in the ministry of the local church. The experiences and colleagues I met during my time at Crandall have informed my approach to relational ministry and doing all things for the glory of the One who has redeemed us (1 Cor. 10:31, Col. 3:17).
Other News:
My wife, Jessie (’18), and I are expecting our first child in February 2026. We are joyfully expecting the life change into parenthood, and eagerly await seeing how God will continue to work in our lives in this next phase.
