Moncton – Graduates of Crandall’s psychology and sociology programs can now fast track a Master of Social Work degree through Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Through this new partnership, psychology and sociology grads can waive up to 15 credit hours of the online master’s program, allowing them to earn their degree faster and enter the field sooner.
“We have a long history of students in both psychology and sociology who go on to do a social work degree in various universities across Canada,” said Dr. Sam Reimer, Professor of Sociology. “Crandall’s partnership with Dordt will provide a clear path toward an MSW for our students, which we hope will encourage more students to seek a social work degree.”
Dordt’s program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) in the United States, which means MSW graduates are eligible to apply for membership with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers (NBASW) or other provincial association.
“Right now, our province of New Brunswick is in desperate need of social workers,” said Dr. Reimer. “We hope this partnership helps us meet this local need.”
Dr. Daniel Goodwin, Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Crandall, is thrilled to see this new pathway open for Crandall students: “For students called to the field of social work, it means a lot that we can point them to a Christian university where they can pursue that calling.”
