Crandall University Celebrates Reopening of Renovated Colburne House Residence

Moncton, NB – Crandall University marked an exciting milestone yesterday with the official ribbon cutting and reopening of Colburne House, the university’s freshly renovated student residence. Nearly 100 guests, including students, staff, alumni, and community members, gathered to tour the updated facility and celebrate the transformation of one of Crandall’s key campus buildings.

University President Dr. Bruce Fawcett opened the ceremony with a short speech, thanking the many individuals and teams who made the renovations possible. “This project represents our commitment to providing students with comfortable, modern, and welcoming spaces where they can thrive both academically and personally,” said President Fawcett. “We’re deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making this vision a reality.”

Among those present were Colburne House’s current Residence Assistants (RAs), one of whom had the honour of cutting the ceremonial ribbon to officially reopen the building.

The renovation project brought major upgrades to the entire residence, including brand new flooring, fresh paint throughout, modern furniture, upgraded mattresses, and fully replaced bathrooms with new sinks, toilets, and showers. Kitchen spaces in each lounge were updated, and for the first time, air conditioning was installed in lounge areas—offering students a more comfortable and climate-controlled space to relax and study.

Visitors to the ribbon cutting event were invited to tour the newly updated residence and experience firsthand the significant improvements made.

Colburne House will welcome its first residents of the academic year this coming week, and the Crandall community is looking forward to seeing the building once again filled with student life.
