A Journey of Faith
There was a time when, amidst the bustling choices and opportunities in Mozambique – a country located in the southern region of the African continent – I found myself standing at a crossroads, unsure of where my journey would lead me next. I dreamed of pursuing postgraduate studies and longed for a place that would nurture my academic ambitions while helping me stay grounded in my faith. Little did I know that my search would lead me to a remarkable sanctuary known as Crandall University, in the small city of Moncton. The appeal for me was the focus on faith-based education.
Alas! I thought to myself, I’ve found a place where I can be myself and redefine my relationship with God in a more personal way. To this day, New Brunswick has become home for my family and me – thanks to Crandall. I’m loving it. There are no regrets—there’s no better place to be.
At Crandall University, I discovered more than just a school; I found a vibrant and welcoming Christian family where inclusiveness flourished. It didn’t matter who you were or where you came from – everyone was embraced by the boundless love of the Father. It was a community that turned love and acceptance into a lived-out reality, transforming my perception of what a supportive environment could be.
As I navigated my academic path at Crandall in January of 2021, I realized that this journey was much more than earning a Master’s degree. With the foundation laid at Crandall, and after completing my Master’s degree, I am now pursuing a PhD in Strategy, Enterprise Leadership, and Management at the University of Gloucestershire. Crandall marked the beginning of something much greater. Being given the opportunity to serve as a part-time faculty member in Graduate Studies, I’ve been able to draw on both my journey as an immigrant and my passion for working with people – experiences that have become the driving force behind the path I’m following today.
As a part-time lecturer in Graduate Studies at Crandall, I’m committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators. My own journey has fueled a deep passion for supporting international students and newcomers as they navigate unfamiliar paths – just as I once did. Crandall sparked this vision, and it continues to guide the work I do today.
Beyond the classroom I volunteer my time. I’m deeply involved in community initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, support newcomers, and celebrate diversity. I mentor aspiring entrepreneurs, serve on leadership boards, and help guide professionals through career development. One way I contribute is by facilitating an entrepreneurship and innovation workshop series, designed to equip students and alumni with the mindset and skills to launch and lead their own ventures. With a background in economics and as a licensed financial advisor, I also provide financial education and coaching to underserved communities. Additionally, I support digital inclusion efforts that create opportunities for skilled immigrants and empower marginalized groups – especially women and Black entrepreneurs – to grow and thrive with confidence.
Every interaction and story shared at Crandall has left a lasting impact on me. I’ve been inspired by so many incredible individuals – faculty, staff, and alumni – who, in one way or another, have helped shape my journey. People like Seth Crowell, Jon Ohlhauser, Tyler Steckly, Dannie Brown, Alicia Flanagan, Don Moore, Obed Owusu, Sheldon MacLeod, David Iremadze, Donald Ibe, Robert Knowles, and several remarkable alumni I’m still connected with today. The relationships I built, the guidance I received, and the lessons I learned – especially in servant leadership, entrepreneurship, and strategy – sparked a deeper purpose in me and ultimately set me on the path toward pursuing a PhD.
And so, my story continues – rooted in faith and community – a testament to the power of resilience, connection, and the shared journey of life. Crandall University has been more than just a place of learning; it has become a pillar in my life, helping me discover my unique path and guiding me toward finding my place and true self-actualization.
