President Fawcett will be spending the winter months this year at The University of Oxford as an Academic Visitor. The Board of Governors has granted Dr. Fawcett a three-month sabbatical to pursue this experience, and he will spend January through March based at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford.

Mr. Doug Schofield, Chair of the Board of Governors, said “We are pleased to be able to provide this time for refreshment and renewal for our President.  He has served in this demanding role for 13 years and the Board feels this opportunity will provide a wonderful environment for personal and professional growth.”

As an Academic Visitor, Dr. Fawcett will have access to the libraries, lectures, seminars, conferences, and special events at The University of Oxford as well as the opportunity to develop a close relationship with the faculty and community of Wycliffe Hall, his host college at the University.

Dr. Fawcett commented, “Penny and I are looking forward to our time away together and the opportunity for refreshment it will provide.  I am grateful that our Executive Vice President, Dr. Robert Knowles, will serve as Acting President in my absence, working in close collaboration with the other members of President’s Council and the Board of Governors.”
