The most exciting time at university is welcoming new students to campus. This 75th year is proving to be even more thrilling as more students than ever before enroll in Graduate and Undergraduate programs. Keep reading for a recap of the last couple of weeks of activity here at Crandall!
Graduate Orientation
New graduate students start their programs at the beginning of all three terms – fall, winter, and spring. Since the majority of our graduate students are international students, graduate orientation revolved heavily around learning about Crandall, the greater Moncton area, and Canada as a whole! This term also marked the second group of graduate students living and studying at our Sussex Campus. During orientation, students toured campus, took part in various information sessions, and got to connect with a number of local organizations and feel more at home in Moncton and Sussex. They also had the opportunity to hear from a panel of previous graduate students who shared their personal experiences and advice on how to be successful at Crandall and as a newcomer to Canada.
Move In Day
The residences are always bustling with life as students move into their dorm rooms. Crandall staff like to provide confidence and assurance to parents of both new and returning students that their students are well cared for on campus. Teams of RAs (Residence Assistants) work alongside the Campus Housing department to ensure a smooth transition to life away from home.
Undergraduate Orientation
Starting university is exciting, but it can be overwhelming at times, so Crandall’s orientation sessions are designed to make the necessary information as accessible as possible for new students. This year’s undergraduate orientation featured information sessions for new undergraduate students, returning undergrads, undergraduate Education students, and international undergrads.
CSA Events
On top of campus tours, orientations, and a community fair, undergraduates were treated to a week of fun social events including a movie night, slip ‘n’ slide, dodgeball tournament, bingo night, paint war, and more, culminating in a Grounded night of Worship on Friday and men’s and women’s soccer home openers on Saturday, with the men’s team beating the Holland Hurricanes, 1-0. CU Serves Day was postponed due to the heavy rain and has been rescheduled to this coming Saturday, September 14, at 2pm. Also on Saturday is our men’s and women’s cross country teams’ home meet in Mapleton Park at 12pm.
Chapel Kickoff
As a Christian university, our Chapel program is a key feature of the culture on campus, and our Dean of the Chapel, Steve Watts, takes great care in managing the Chapel and caring for students’ spiritual well-being. Chapel services take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the newly renovated Brinton Auditorium, and Fridays in MacArthur Chapel, often featuring a message as well as singing. In addition, to provide multiple ways for students to engage with and develop in their faith, Mentoring Groups are offered on Mondays, led by members of the staff and faculty.
Welcome to all new and returning Crandall students!
