Amy Lean MacArthur, Assistant Professor of Business Administration, has successfully defended her doctoral dissertation and completed the requirements to earn a PhD from the University of New Brunswick.
MacArthur’s dissertation, titled “Exploring First-Year Student Engagement, and Examining the Connection Between Mentorship, Transformation, and Retention: A Case Study,” looks at the unsettling attrition rate within Maritime post-secondary institutions and explores the factors that encourage students to stay and flourish in university. The final published work will be available from UNB Libraries later this year.
“We are thrilled to congratulate Amy Lean MacArthur on the completion of her doctoral work,” said Dr. Jon Ohlhauser, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “The expertise and enthusiasm that Amy brings has been greatly appreciated as we’ve grown over the years, both in our Business Administration programs and as an institution.”
Amy’s involvement at Crandall began with a season in the Admissions Office in 2001 before she moved on to direct the Degree Completion program. After earning a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick, she began teaching part time in the Degree Completion Program before becoming a lecturer in the Business Administration program. She has since moved on to head up the BBA’s Marketing Concentration and also serves as Strategic Communications Specialist for the University.
