2023 spring term kicks off

Moncton – More than 23 countries were represented this week as new students arrived on campus to begin their studies.

In addition to the number of undergraduate courses that are offered, spring term is a popular starting point for grad students at Crandall. Teachers often begin their Master of Education studies in the spring and summer months, and students also arrive from all over the world to pursue Crandall’s graduate Management programs.

This spring, students from more than 23 countries arrived on campus to start graduate degrees at Crandall.

Orientation for new international graduate students takes place on campus over three days at the start of every term. It is an opportunity for students to meet each other, to get acquainted with Crandall faculty and staff, and to learn about the various resources available to them on campus.

“Our team communicates with new students in various ways for months before they arrive,” said Chris Robb, Vice-President for Enrollment Management, “but it’s truly exciting to finally meet them in person as they arrive for orientation and begin their studies with us.”

The orientation team also arranges for the new students to learn about the broader community, connecting them with local organizations and resources available to them throughout Greater Moncton. The three-day event includes introductions, presentations, student panels, and a community fair, where the students have the opportunity to learn more about life in the city, from public transit to policing, from banking to books, and more, including additional resources and support for newcomers to Canada.

“The whole orientation process gives us the opportunity not only to welcome the new students to Crandall, but it also lets us get to know each other before classes even begin,” said Graduate Studies Program Administrator Bill MacLean. “There’s a lot of important information that is being shared this week, but it’s also about building connections and community right from day one.”
