Crandall University is pleased to announce that The Honourable Preston Manning will be the 2023 Spring Convocation speaker and honorary doctorate recipient.
Mr. Manning served as a Member of Parliament from 1993 to 2001 and as leader of the Official Opposition from 1997 to 2000.
He is a member of the King’s Privy Council for Canada, a Companion of the Order of Canada, and a member of the Alberta Order of Excellence.
In 2005, he founded the Canada Strong and Free Network (formerly the Manning Centre for Building Democracy), serving as president until 2016 and retiring in 2020.
“As a committed Christian who has worked to integrate his faith with his public service, Mr. Manning serves as an example that our faith can have a profound impact on our professional lives as well as our personal journey,” said Crandall President Dr. Bruce Fawcett.
Mr. Manning also holds honorary degrees from a number of institutions, including the University of Toronto, York University, McMaster Divinity College, Tyndale University, the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, and the University of British Columbia.
He will be presented with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree at the convocation, and will speak at both ceremonies on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 9:30am and 2:00pm ADT.
