Bachelor of Arts in History, Class of 1996

I graduated from Crandall University (ABU) in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. After being part of the workforce for a couple of years, my wife Kimberley (’96) and I decided to pursue graduate studies at Providence in Otterburne, Manitoba. There I obtained my Master of Arts in Educational Studies – Student Development degree. Upon completion of our degrees, both my wife and I continued to work at Providence for the next few years. During this time, our family also expanded with the birth of our son Max.

We experienced plenty of growth both personally and professionally during our time in Manitoba and met so many wonderful people who have become lifelong friends. In late August of 2003 I was hired as an Admissions Counsellor at Crandall University. It was evident that my time as a student at Crandall and my further education at Providence prepared me for this role.

It is hard to believe in August 2022 that I will be completing my nineteenth year as an employee at Crandall University. During my time here, I worked sixteen years in the Admissions and Recruitment field and three years as the Athletic Director. Currently, I hold the position of Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Awards. This position has allowed me to travel throughout North America, meet students, and tell them the story of what Crandall University has to offer them. It has also opened doors for me professionally and provided me with the opportunity to participate on the Board of Directors for the North American Coalition for Christian Admission Professionals and the Strategic Enrolment Management of Christian Colleges and Universities. Both organizations strive to advance enrollment in Christian higher education throughout North America.

My time as a Crandall student taught me to apply myself academically and spiritually. The courses I took and the mentorship of my professors demanded excellence and hard work which set me up for future success. More importantly, the professors at Crandall took the time to get to know me, encourage me, pray with me, and give me direction in my academic journey. This built a solid foundation for me to continue with graduate studies and ultimately prepared me for the career that would follow.

I am thankful for both my time as a student and now as a current employee at Crandall and how it has shaped my life. If I had to do it all over again I would not change a thing.
