Crandall University is excited to announce the hiring of a new lab instructor for our science programs, Zdena Harder. Zdena earned her Master of Science in Biochemistry, as well as her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa. Her graduate work focused on the study of novel proteins involved in mitochondrial fission.
Over the past 18 years, Zdena has worked in various capacities as a private educator, tutor, and scientific writer/contractor in Ottawa and Waterloo. She has created and taught curriculum for a variety of science courses geared toward students ranging from elementary to advanced levels, assisted in the coordination of clinical trials, and performed literature reviews and scientific editing for the Public Health Agency of Canada and startup biotech companies.
Zdena’s family, including her husband and three children, recently moved to the Moncton area from Waterloo, Ontario. Her youngest children, Isabelle and Daniel, are completing high school while her oldest, Joshua, is currently pursuing aviation at Moncton Flight College. The family has settled in Albert County and are enjoying rural life.
“I am honoured to be a part of Crandall and hope to bring to first year Biology students the opportunity to expand their knowledge and refine their laboratory skills so that they can become significant contributors to the scientific community,” expressed Zdena.
Zdena will be the first year Biology Laboratory Instructor and Lecturer and will also take on various general laboratory management duties.
