Crandall University is pleased to announce a new member of the faculty of Management, Dr. Sergio Ribeiro. Dr. Ribeiro earned his PhD in Urban Management from Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná, Brazil. His research interests are primarily in applied computing related to integrating strategies, evidence, and computational models to support organizational decision-making and the decision process through artificial intelligence focused on soft computing, data mining, data analysis, forecasting, natural language processing, computer vision, rough set, and three-way decisions.
In addition to his PhD, Dr. Ribeiro also holds a Master of Computer Science from the State University of Ponta Grossa, Brazil, as well as various diplomas. His master’s thesis, titled “Image Characteristics Extraction Applied to Rot Corn Grain Detection” dealt with applied computing in agriculture, data mining, and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Ribeiro has 10 years of teaching experience and 20 plus years of IT experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, database and interactive visualization, system and information security, data mining, and data analysis for business process automation. Most recently, Dr. Ribeiro worked at Briercrest College, Saskatchewan as an Assistant Professor of Business in the Faculty of Arts, and prior to that he worked at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan and several universities throughout Brazil.
Dr. Ribeiro and his family, including his wife and daughter, moved to Canada from Brazil five years ago. After living in the prairies, they are excited to be travelling to the Maritimes.
