The best way to see all that Crandall University has to offer is to come for a campus tour. We can also customize a campus tour to your specific interests.
Crandall University is pleased to welcome Dr. J-F as an Associate Professor in the Education Faculty. J-F is a developmental specialist in child/adolescent mental health, psychiatric and psychological disorders, with a particular interest in adult and child psychopathology/deviancy. He has experience working in and with special needs, high-risk adolescent aggressive behaviours, gangs, bullying, motivation, school violence, mental health, psychopharmacology, complex psychiatric behaviours, and non-compliance symptomologies.
Dr. J-F comes to Crandall with twenty years’ worth of vast experiences, including jobs in maximum security prisons, at-risk schools, and universities. Yet more impressive are the roles that J-F has held at these institutions; he has worked as a university professor, a registered secondary school teacher, a private consultant as a criminologist for juvenile justice/corrections, a guidance officer, an educational psychologist, a forensic psychologist, and was a policy advisor to local and federal governments.
Aside from being extremely well-rounded and familiar with a wide variety of settings and environments, Dr. J-F also brings with him research and legislative experience advising local, international, and federal governments on adolescent and child mental health. He has undertaken several legislative and policy/system reviews of re-visioning culture, addressing school belonging, reducing school violence, developing alternative programs for at-risk students and inmates, and developing contextualized behaviour support programs and therapeutic programs.
Currently, Dr. J-F is studying two critical areas within the education context, the first being teacher’s mental health and how best to support teachers within a classroom setting, and the second being resilience and mental health in relation to school performance.
“We are thrilled to have someone with so much knowledge and experience join our team,” said Dr. Roger Russell, Crandall’s Dean of Professional Programs. “I am confident Dr. J-F’s unique perspectives will allow us to continue strengthening our Education programs and benefit our students.”
Dr. J-F will be teaching courses on Educational Psychology, Instructional and Learning Processes, and Autism Spectrum & Emotional & Behavioural Disorders starting with the first section of Educational Psychology this spring 2021.
