Moncton – Students, faculty and staff at Crandall University are faced once again with the loss of a member of their community, as they learned of the unexpected passing of Anurav Kumar Das over the weekend.
An international student from India, Das had been pursuing a Master of Management at Crandall, but he had not yet been able to come to Canada – a now-familiar situation for International students enrolled at colleges and universities across the country. When the news arrived of his sudden passing, the impact was felt immediately.
“He was a positive presence in our class,” said Dr. Seth Crowell, one of Das’ professors. “He made helpful and thoughtful contributions to our discussions…there was a genuine thoughtfulness about him.”
“In spite of the fact that he never made it to Canada to study, he was still a part of our family and his loss is sincerely felt,” said Dr. Dannie Brown, Dean of International Academic Programs and Remote Learning. “Once again we have felt the pangs of separation because of Covid-19.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Das’ family and friends,” said Dr. Bruce Fawcett, Crandall’s President and Vice Chancellor. “We pray for comfort and strength in the midst of this time of profound loss.”
