In person classes resume at Crandall with return to Yellow Phase

As the Moncton region returns to the Yellow Phase of Recovery under New Brunswick’s Public Health guidelines, classes at Crandall University will begin to return to in-person delivery.

When the region was moved into the Orange Phase due to an outbreak of COVID-19 cases in Moncton two weeks prior, classes were moved online as part of Crandall’s operating plan procedures.

“The health and safety of our students, staff and faculty is of the highest priority at Crandall University, which is why we designed an operating plan that adapts to situations like these,” said Dr. Jon Ohlhauser, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, who also serves as chair of Crandall’s COVID-19 Advisory Committee. “We believe in the value of in-person classes, but we are ready to adjust as necessary to ensure our community remains safe.”

Crandall had been delivering the vast majority of its undergraduate classes in person since the start of the fall term. Due to its already small class sizes, spaces were able to be reconfigured to allow in-person instruction to take place while still abiding by Public Health guidelines. After two weeks in the Orange phase, the lifting of restrictions means most of those classes will return to in-person delivery, with only a small number of courses continuing online.

“These outbreaks are a stark reminder of why we need to remain vigilant in keeping each other safe,” said Dr. Ohlhauser. “Our hearts go out to all those affected and we pray for a speedy recovery, even as we remain thankful to be situated where we are, in the position to be able to offer an educational experience that is as close to ‘normal’ as we can.”

Crandall students, faculty, and staff are advised to continue monitoring their email regularly to stay up-to-date on any adjustments to guidelines, policies, schedules, and more.
