Crandall in the Orange Phase of Operation

Following the decision of the Government of NB today (Oct 9, 2020) to designate Zone 1 (Moncton) as a “Code Orange” for COVID-19 purposes, it has been decided that Crandall University will also switch to the colour of orange outlined in its pre-determined COVID-19 operational parameters.

Here are some details for how we will operate beginning at midnight, October 10, 2020.

Email Communication

Communication about COVID-19 will be sent through the official Crandall University email systems. Students and employees are asked to monitor their email accounts regularly to ensure that they have received the most current information on how the University is operating through COVID-19.

Classes

All classes that do not have an essential reason to meet in a face-to-face (F2F) mode of learning will be switched to an online delivery model until the University moves back to a yellow code of operation. Instructors will notify students if their course has been designated as a “F2F Essential” course. Unless otherwise noted by instructors, all courses will continue to meet during scheduled class times. Courses have been pre-established on the Crandall University TEAMS system and that will be the system used by default for the delivery of courses. Instructors choosing to use alternative educational platforms for course delivery will notify students through email.

Academic Building Access

Academic buildings will remain accessible to students who are actively registered for the Fall 2020 semester. All classrooms and meeting spaces will be locked during this orange phase of operation. All students are encouraged to use the Academic buildings only for essential purposes. The Academic Buildings will close at 9pm on week nights and 7pm on weekends.

Library

The Library will remain open and accessible to all students during this orange phase of operation but it will close at 8pm.

Café

The Café will not be in open during the orange phase of operation.

Colburne House

Colburne House will remain open. Only official Colburne House residents will be allowed into the Colburne House residence during this orange phase of operation.

Mitton Court

Mitton Court will remain open. Only official Mitton Court residents will be allowed into the Mitton Court apartments during this orange phase of operation.

Athletics

During this orange phase of operation, use of athletic spaces will be only for coaches and varsity athletes and will come under the guidance of parameters established by the University Athletic Director.

Travel To Zone 1 (Moncton)

For students or employees who live outside of the region of Zone 1 and are required to travel to campus for an essential course or for work, you qualify to enter into the Zone on the basis that your entry is for essential purposes.

Students and employees are again encouraged to monitor their Crandall University email for updates on University operation as the situation develops.
