The Crandall University Faculty of Business Administration today announced that three alumni of its Bachelor of Business Administration degree have successfully completed the Common Final Examination (CFE) for CPA Canada. The CFE is an intensive, three day professional examination which must be completed by those seeking the CPA designation. According to CPA Canada, the exam requires “candidates to demonstrate depth and breadth of competency development in accordance with the CPA Competency Map,” in the areas of accounting, assurance, taxation, and management.
The three successful candidates, all members of Crandall’s graduating class of 2015, completed their degrees with concentrations in accounting. Julie Bergeron of Grand Falls, NB is employed by Grant Thornton Moncton as a senior accountant. Joel MacPherson of Kentville, NS is employed as a senior accountant with Grant Thornton Miramichi. Tara McLean of Moncton, NB is employed by Major Drilling Ltd. as a financial analyst and, as announced by CPA New Brunswick, “earned the special distinction of being amongst the 69 Honour Roll students who finished in the top 1% in the country.”
“Passing the CFE has become my biggest educational achievement to date,” said Ms. McLean. “There are two major lessons I took away from the experience: first, when people say it’s one of the toughest exams they aren’t lying, and second, Crandall’s Business Program prepared me better than I could have imagined. The case-base approached used by Crandall’s incredible professors set me up for success and I am so thankful to have had Crandall as the foundation for my accounting career.”
“It is exciting to see these three very talented professionals succeed in their chosen field,” said Heather Steeves CPA, the head of the University’s Accounting Concentration. “This is only the beginning of the contribution that these Crandall alum will make to the profession and we could not be prouder of their hard work and success.”
