In September, our long-serving part-time professor of French, Karen Spracklin, successfully defended her doctoral thesis in Linguistics at the Université de Moncton. Entitled Outiller l’immersion française pour l’enseignement explicite du vocabulaire, Dr. Spracklin’s thesis research developed and tested a new approach to vocabulary instruction and acquisition among French Immersion students. The linguistic model produced exciting initial results for all levels of language ability in the experimental group. Dr. Spracklin will publish her results in several academic journals in the coming months.
