Faculty of Business Awards Scholarship in Ethics

The Crandall University Faculty of Business Administration today announced the recipient of the $4,500 Gord and Marlene (Steeves) Read Scholarship in Business Ethics as Nathaniel Burlock of Woodstock, NB.  As a fourth year student double-majoring in Marketing and Management, Nathaniel distinguished himself both academically and within the University community, most recently as President of the student Business Society.

The Gord and Marlene (Steeves) Read Scholarship was established in memory of prominent business leaders Stephen and Ella Steeves, and is awarded to a student in the Bachelor of Business Administration program who has demonstrated academic diligence and keen interest in business ethics.  The annual recipient is recognized as being one of the most promising future graduates in terms of applying ethical standards based on a Christian worldview within their future practice of business.

“I am honoured to go to a school that would appreciate the aspects of this scholarship in its students,” Nathaniel said.  “I appreciate how many other students would have been just as easily considered for this and am so pleased to be the official recipient for 2017.”  Nathaniel plans to reside in the Moncton area upon graduation in May, and is hoping to land an entry level position in the marketing field.

“In an era so often characterized by bad news stories about ethical failures in business, it’s heartening to see in Nathaniel a fine example of ethical practice,” said Robert MacDonald, the University’s Stephen S. Steeves Professor in Business and member of the committee that selected Nathaniel for the award.  “His commitment to excellence and the integration of his faith with his studies in business have made him an exemplar for his peers.  We’re very proud of his achievement.”

The Crandall University Faculty of Business Administration offers concentrations in Accounting, Economics and Finance, Management, Marketing, and General Business Administration.  The Faculty’s motto “Excellence. Integrated.” speaks to its goal of being a  leader in the integration of business and the Christian faith.
