Crandall University receives a $200,000 gift

Crandall State Gift

Crandall University held an internal celebration, acknowledging the generous gift and its donor. The donor, who recently passed away at 99 and made her home in Saint John, New Brunswick, wished to remain anonymous to the public.

The donor first became aware of Crandall University in the 1950s, in the early years of the University’s existence. Dr. Arthur C. Vincent, her pastor and one of Crandall’s original visionaries, received university donations periodically from the donor. When Vincent’s son, Frank Vincent, came to the University as a Planned Giving Officer in the 1990s, he and the donor became friends due to their connection to Vincent’s father. Because of this positive connection, and upon considering her estate plans, the donor remained connected to Crandall.

At the Crandall announcement, Frank referred to the donor as “everybody’s grandmother” and explained to employees some of the history leading up to the generous gift.

Crandall’s President, Dr. Bruce Fawcett, expressed sincere gratitude for the gift as he explained that “God’s blessings come at the right time”. The excitement from the University employees was evident, as gifts like these mean positive action for Crandall. “Receiving financial gifts such as this continues to encourage the University to strive forward”, says Jolene MacDonald, Executive Director, “and ensures we provide our students with the quality programs and services our students have come to expect.”
