20th annual get-together of the 1960-64 Alumni, September, 2009

Organized by Carol (Stanley) Thorne (’64)

On Sept. 25, 2009, the day before the big 60th anniversary celebration at the university, a record-breaking number of 73 UBBTSers gathered in the Fellowship Hall at the Gunningsville Baptist Church for a wonderful afternoon and evening of re-connecting, reminiscing, and reflecting on our experiences at “The Bible School”.  Even a grey, rainy day couldn’t damper our spirits. For me, one of the highlights of that get-together was when we gathered in the church sanctuary after the evening meal, and spent time listening as various members of the group shared how they had ended up at UBBTS.  Each one’s story was unique, but in each case, God’s hand was so evident.  None of us were there just by accident, and it was neat to be reminded of that as several talked about the long-term impact that having attended UBBTS has had on their lives.  If you add to the number who were there that day the twenty or so who sent their regrets, and said they hope to be able to come to the next reunion, and then the ones who weren’t able to come on Friday, but who attended some of the activities at the university on Saturday or Sunday, the grand total was over 100. And what is really great is that a number of people were there for the very first time.  If you were at UBBTS in 1960-64, and have never yet been to one of these annual get-togethers, you don’t know what you’re missing.

Mini reunion of the 1960-64 Alumni

In August, 2009, close to thirty of the 1960-64 Alumni group gathered in the gym of the Uplands Baptist Church to spend the afternoon reminiscing and rolling back the years as we re-connected with two of our classmates – Winnie (Sherrard) Colburne (’62) and Carol (Dickson) Fisher (’63) – who live outside the Maritimes, but were in New Brunswick on vacation.  Since they weren’t going to be able to come back again in September for the annual get-together, we decided to have a special reunion just for them.  We’d love to do the same for you, if you happen to be in the Moncton area some time other than September.  All you have to do is contact Carol (Stanley) Thorne (’64) at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or c/o Crandall University, Box 6004, Moncton, NB E1C 9LZ,  and we’ll plan a party.  We’re always glad for an excuse to get together, so please don’t hesitate to let us know you plan to be in the area.  And, if Moncton isn’t one of your planned stops while you’re in the Maritimes, that doesn’t matter – we don’t mind taking our show on the road, and meeting up with you somewhere else.  We really do want to see you!
