See what you missed out on in January!

The fans left Crandall University at 8 am Saturday morning, January 16th, en-route to Halifax to support the men’s basketball team who were scheduled to take on the MSVU Mystics at the Halifax Metro Centre.

After a shopping spree at MicMac Mall in Dartmouth, the bus picked up Jonathan Duru, a local tour guide, the uncle of AD Will Njoku. Jonathan treated the group to a 90 minute speaking tour of the HRM. The tour was highlighted by stops at the Titanic grave site, local universities, Point Pleasant Park and Citadel Hill. 

Around 3 pm, the group left the bus to join a large crowd of Crandall fans at the Metro Centre box-office.  Gilda Ryder and the Advancement team distributed pre-ordered tickets, noise makers and lots of Crandall pens and paraphernalia.  Despite losing the game 84 -66, our fans, supporters and team represented our institution with pride and class both on and off the court.  It is encouraging to note the greater majority of fans at the game came from the African United Baptist Association. 

The crew from Crandall were also among the four thousand fans who were treated to an exciting Premier League Basketball game that went down to the wire.  In the end, the Halifax Rainmen defeated the Vermont Frost Heaves 119 -1 09.  

“Having played in the Metro Centre many times, I knew exactly how great a  feeling it is,  so that’ s why I pushed hard to secure the game and create an opportunity for our community to experience the excitement for themselves”, said Njoku.  “Talks of a return trip in 2011 might be of consolation to those fans who were unable to make it.”
